My philosophy on therapy is that I see the relationship between a client and therapist as a partnership. I work hard to create a safe and comfortable environment where clients can let down their guard and speak freely. I believe a warm and supportive environment is key to the success of any therapeutic relationship. I work towards this goal by using my sense of humor and down to earth personality to relate to clients. I see each client as an individual, not a diagnosis. I help clients identify their strengths and weaknesses as a means of helping them get back on track more quickly.
I am a licensed psychologist through the Maryland State Board of Examiners of psychologists. I have a master’s degree from Loyola College, as well as a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University. Prior to getting my doctorate, I worked for six years in various psychiatric hospital settings in Baltimore. For the past twelve years, I have been a practicing psychologist in Towson, and now have recently opened an office in the Howard County area.
I incorporate many different techniques into my work, but primarily draw from a cognitive behavioral perspective. Simply put, this means that the way we think about situations directly relates to the feelings these situations create in us. By helping clients to think differently, I can help reduce their negative emotional reactions.
